Pahurehure Esplanade

Not my favourite walk.

Pahurehure inlet has potential, with it’s kōtuku ngutupapa | royal spoonbill and matuku | white-faced heron and kōtare | kingfisher and boardwalk and fascinating estuarine grasses – but the pastel smooth brick Shakespearean copycat stucco 'architectural' variations-on-a-theme mostly well mown and succulents – coupled with the shopping trolleys and traffic cones and plastic wrappers and beer cans and high-voltage transmission lines (and probably the overcast weather) left me feeling a bit meh about this urban expedition.

Seven-and-a-half kilometres over two hours.
