National Aquarium

We have a delayed family Kirihimete | Christmas in Heretaunga | Hastings, allowing everybody time to do what they need to do on their Christmas Days. The weather is wet – so we decide to visit the National Aquarium.

It’s packed full of people on account of the weather – and a recently berthed cruise ship. 

It’s also packed full of sea life – leaving us with conflicted feelings and lots of things to talk about over Christmas leftovers.

We wait for the frenzy of people watching the kororā | little blue penguin feeding time to abate, then watch as these magnificent birds preen and frolic, bellies full.
