Massey Cossey Loop

I head to the Hunua Ranges to loop around Massey and Cossey.
It’s a beautiful walk – an easy gravelled track along one side of the Cossey Gorge up to the reservoir, along the dam face, over a beautiful ridge line of rimu and totara and tanekaha and beech, and down to Hunua Falls.
I spot kōtare | kingfisher, kāruhiruhi | pied cormorant, pahirini | chaffinch, pīwakawaka | fantail, tarā nui | caspian tern, kākā / forest parrot, tūī / parson bird, kererū / wood pigeon, riroriro / warbler, and miromiro / tomtit.
Just under 12 kilometres, 400 metres of elevation, and three hours of elapsed time.
